The house is well maintained, and my dorm room was air-conditioned with a fan as well. Beds are comfortable, and there's a little drawer in the cupboard for storing valuables. ☹ The shared kitchen is clean and tidy, but there was only one teaspoon and 2 sharp knives. There is a nice, cold fridge .There's no place for hanging so you'll need to use a laundry service. A balcony or rooftop would be nice, as the interior does get warm outside the bedroom.

Amy16 February 2024Beautiful staff were the best part of the stay! ☺ The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, they went above and beyond to answer any questions that we had. The aircon in our bedroom worked well and the room was comfortable. Location is fantastic and we rarely needed to walk more than three minutes to get anywhere. ☹ The stairs to get to your room are so steep they're almost a ladder. I have an injured wrist and struggled not being able to grip the hand rails with both hands, so I can't imagine how difficult it may be for someone with a leg injury, no matter how minor.

The room had 8 beds & the people coming in were always so great. I had great rest there! Even if the hostel is in the middle of the center streets let's say... Where people are constantly moving.. The room was quiet! And dark. So you can really get a good night's sleep or even a rest throughout the day! It's also a great location as everything is going on around there, so you're like maybe 2-6min walking from everything. ☹ The stairs are not comfortable to use... Ja és plusz pont hogy volt ballonos víz amit mindig újra lehetett tölteni. ☹A szobánk olyan magason volt mint a Kilimanjaro, viszont a kilátás talán nem volt olyan szép, mivel ablakunk sem volt,de cserébe felért egy napi edzéssel mire felmásztunk rá, szóval win-win. Célnak megfelelt.

The female staff members are really kind and I also appreciated the fact that they were able to accommodate my check-in for early hours of the morning. Truly appreciated. ☹ The male staff member who welcomed me was not kind, he was rather dogmatic. The accommodation shared a list of tours and “fixed” prices with me, knowing that I was a solo traveler but when I wanted to benefit from their offer, they told me that I needed to pay double the amount. Not great. Also, their property is very poor, no space to shower on the top floor, you basically have to use bath closer to a toilet, terrible!!!!

I had a very small private room (with shared bathroom) but overall, it was of a good value for the affordable price I paid. The communal kitchen with a big fridge was very useful and the staff were very kind and helpful. I highly recommend this hostel for those looking for a cheap and decent accommodation. ☹ The shower on the 3rd floor only had cold water. I also didn’t like that the shower and toilet were in the same room.

We tried to pay the hostel in Tanzanian Shillings and they did the worst possible rate from Dollars (2.700 per dollar, when the rate is 2.500). I am sorry but I strongly believe that guests are family, so this is not fair.

Great hostel, not that social though The hostel itself is great, the beds are comfy, there is aircon, breakfast is available at the second location nearby for 15.000 tsh, the showers are warm and clean, they also provide drinking water. However, there wasn’t many people staying there at all, this meant that it was kind of hard to connect with other solo travellers. It wasn’t vert much social at all. So if you’re looking for a social experience I don’t recommend staying here. The location however is great it’s in the middle of Stone Town meaning it is really easy to get anywhere in the area by foot, so for that purpose it is great! However, I booked with booking.com. when I arrived, I was told the total didn't include $2 a day hotel fee. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, per 35€ a notte abbiamo soggiornato nella camera con bagno al secondo piano. La recensione a mio avviso devono essere fatte a seconda quanto si paga, chi scrive che le camere sono piccole deve prenotare non in una guest house ma in un'hotel ad esempio. Ci sono tutti i confort, aria condizionata e ventilatore, letto a baldacchino con zanzariere ma di zanzare neanche una. Bagno con acqua calda spazzolini sapone e shampoo di cortesia. Molto apprezzato fuori dalla camera dispenser con acqua calda e fredda. La colazione ottima varia e abbondante é a 300mt in 'un'altra struttura. Personale gentile e posizione ottima in mezzo alla medina. Attenzione, la scala per salire ai piani è bella ripida, per noi non è stato un problema ma potrebbe esserlo a chi ha problemi di mobilità. Grazie shoki shoki, abbiamo scoperto è il nome di un frutto....buonissimo.Posted on Google

Okay stay at this iittle guest house in the middle of stone town. The rooms are EXTREMELY small and stairs to get up to the rooms are the steepest we have seen -basically a ladder. The rooms were clean however and the wooden floor boards added a nice touch to the very modest little room. The staff were okay - not bad but not particuarly great either. The one key selling feature were the INSANELY good breakfasts which were served at the main Shoki Shoki Hotel (a larger establishment with assumed better/more expensive rooms) which is about a 4 - 5 min walk from the guest house. I don't kwow what the chef was doing but the food for these simple breakfasts were amazing! Yum!Posted on Google
시프하연12 September 2025고풍스런 건물과 숙소에 손에 꼽을 정도로 깨끗하고 생수통에서는 뜨겁고 차가운 물이 나와 힘들게 생수를 사다 마시지 않아도 좋았습니다. 특히 층마다 상주하는 직원이 화장실이며 욕실을 관리하고 있어서 늘 청결합니다. 모기장이 짱짱하고 저녁이면 직원이 모기약을 뿌릴수있게 건네줍니다. 특히 아랍요세와 2분거리에 있고 바다와도 정말 가까워 저녁 야시장을 충분히 즐기고 오기에도 좋습니다. 골목에 있어 갖가지 상점들도 바로 볼수있고 새벽이면 숙소 바로 옆에 죽을 파는데 만다지빵을 한국신문에 싸서주네요. ^^ 추천 백배입니다~~~Posted on Google
Nicole27 August 2025IMPORTANT: BED BUGS (25.08.2025) - don’t stay!!! We spent two nights in room 1 and our experience was extremely disappointing: The room was very loud at night due to windows that couldn’t be fully closed, making it difficult to sleep. The worst part came when we woke up at 3:15 am itching and scratching ourselves, only to realise we had been bitten by BED BUGS. We immediately informed the staff member on duty, who was sleeping on a mattress in front of the reception. Instead of taking the matter seriously, he dismissed our concerns, removed the bedsheets, and placed them in the hallway, potentially spreading the infestation. Even worse, he left us without a bed at around 3:30 am, and we had to wait in the hallway for the rest of the night until morning. Despite this unacceptable situation, we were refused a refund, and none of the staff (including the supervisor or manager) acknowledged the issue or even provided us with a receipt. The cleaning and management staff showed no sense of responsibility. The cleaner simply swept the bed bugs from the room into the bathroom and common area with a broom, completely neglecting any proper sanitation procedures. This was an absolutely unacceptable and unsanitary experience. I hope this serves as a warning to others and that serious action is taken to address the infestation and staff conduct.Posted on Google
Eléonore Bueno11 August 2025Nous avons séjourné à Shoki Shoki Guest House et avons été agréablement surpris par le rapport qualité-prix. La chambre était correcte, pas très lumineuse mais bien équipée. La salle de bain était partagée, mais propre et bien aménagée, ce qui est tout à fait convenable pour ce prix. ⭐️ Le vrai plus : l’accueil chaleureux ! Le personnel est adorable, disponible, et nous a même accueillis avec le sourire en pleine nuit. La localisation est également idéale : proche de tout en restant au calme. Petit conseil pratique : il existe deux établissements portant le nom Shoki Shoki (l’hôtel et la guesthouse). Si vous arrivez en taxi, précisez bien que vous allez à Shoki Shoki Guest House pour éviter toute confusion.
